About the Cobra OPTM MAX-K Driver
The Cobra OPTM MAX-K is the maximum-forgiveness, neutral-bias driver in Cobra's 2026 OPTM lineup. Cobra calls it the most stable driver in golf, citing a combined three-axis MOI of 13,000 — a number that puts it at the top of the category for twist resistance on off-center hits. The oversized head profile and fixed 11-gram rear weight are designed to keep the ball in play above all else.
Like the rest of the OPTM family, the MAX-K benefits from Cobra's new POI (Product of Inertia) optimization, which reduces club head rotation across all three axes during mishits. Cobra reports this translates to up to 23 percent less shot dispersion compared to the previous generation. The H.O.T face insert spreads 15 variable-thickness zones across the hitting area to preserve ball speed on strikes away from the center. The FUTUREFIT33 hosel gives fitters 33 unique loft and lie combinations.
The trade-off for all that stability is noticeable. The MAX-K launches higher and spins more than the other OPTM heads, and independent testers measured roughly 10 fewer yards of carry compared to the LS model. It averaged around 246 yards of carry with spin rates above 3,500 rpm in testing. If raw distance is the priority, the OPTM X or LS will be better fits. But for golfers whose main goal is finding fairways and avoiding big misses, the MAX-K is one of the most effective options available in 2026.
