About the Ping G440 HL SFT Driver
The Ping G440 HL SFT Driver is a purpose-built slice fighter designed for golfers with slower swing speeds. The "HL" stands for High Launch and the "SFT" stands for Straight Flight Technology — together they address the two biggest challenges facing senior and moderate-speed players: getting the ball in the air and keeping it from drifting right. This is the lightest configuration in the G440 driver family, with a target head weight of 196 grams compared to 199 grams for the standard SFT.
The HL build pairs the draw-biased SFT head with the ultra-light Ping Alta Quick shaft and a Lamkin UTx Lite grip, reducing total club weight to help generate more clubhead speed. The SFT head itself features a 23-gram adjustable tungsten back weight that can be positioned in Draw (approximately 13 yards of correction) or Draw+ (approximately 20 yards of correction) settings. Ping's Carbonfly Wrap crown saves weight from the top of the head, pushing the center of gravity lower for higher launch and more forgiveness.
The G440 SFT won a Gold Medal on the Golf Digest 2025 Hot List and earned 5-star customer ratings. The HL version makes this proven slice-correction technology accessible to players who lack the swing speed to take full advantage of standard-weight configurations. If you fight a persistent fade or slice and swing under 90 mph, this is one of the most targeted solutions available.
