The Ping G440 HL Hybrid is the high-launch variant of Ping's G440 hybrid line, custom-engineered from the ground up for slower swing speed players. The HL designation stands for High Launch, and every component has been selected to help these golfers generate more swing speed, higher launch, and greater carry distance compared to standard-weight configurations.
Key to the HL build is significant weight reduction. The clubhead uses an aluminum back weight instead of the heavier tungsten found in the standard model, paired with the lightweight Alta Quick 46-inch shaft and a Lamkin UTx Lite grip. This trimmed-down setup makes the club easier to accelerate through the hitting zone. The G440 platform itself benefits from Ping's Free Hosel design and Carbonfly Wrap crown, which redistribute weight savings to lower the center of gravity while maintaining high MOI for tight shot dispersion.
